What is a mail room?

A mail room, also called the post room is a room in which outgoing and incoming mail is processed and organized. Mail rooms are generally found in offices, schools, the generic post offices and apartment buildings. For any company’s outgoing and incoming mails, the mailroom is responsible to manage it.

Mail boy or mailroom clerk is a person who works in a mailroom and the postmaster is the main head. The former prepares all the outgoing mails and packages before their dispatch via any other carrier or post office. Most of the big companies routinely pay for packages and postage. Hence, even if they have to shell out few cents, it will save them from paying annual expenses to handle their mail.
